Christmas Gifts - Skirts

Two more (actually three more, but the third was too big) for some cute little nieces for Christmas. I used the leftover fabric from Audrey's quilt to have exactly enough for three skirts. I got nervous on these ones that they were going to be too short, so I added a little slip underneath to give an extra inch or two to the length. Too bad the one pictured first got pooped in already! Too much fun on Christmas to go in the potty, I guess!

In the end, I don't think I needed to added the extra length, but now they will last longer!

Just Got Home!

My mom and I had way too much fun while I was home for two weeks. First, she hated these beads so my friend from high school, Megan, came over to make some bracelets for our girls.
And, do you remember this adorable skirt?
We each made one. My mom made her's out of linen and I like the way it turned out much better than my thicker cotton fabric.
Her's:

What to Try Next

That is, after the craziness of the next few weeks!
This skirt is from a line used by peekaboo photos that I've been dying to try to re-create...we'll see what we can come up with!

From Scraps to Skirts

I have a whole box full of scraps, trust me, I save EVERYTHING and now I'm glad I do! I put all of these together at practically no cost and in a matter of two good morning naps (thank you Baby Bex).

This one actually started out as a dress, then I realized it was way too small so I just left off the straps.
You can find tutorials for all kinds of little girls' skirts out there.
Two of my favorites are here and here.

Not sure what kind of fabric this brown crap was but I will never ever be buying it again! One of my favorite parts of sewing is the ironing, but this crap melted all over my iron! Oh well, this one was still Landon's favorite of the skirts.

Gotta Try These, Too!

I have been SEARCHING for a new dressy skirt, one that's more church and temple appropriate. So when I saw this new tutorial I ran around the house screaming for joy. Once I get all these craft fair projects out of the way, I can't wait to start some project for me and baby bex!

I saw this bag a few weeks ago and was so thrilled when she finally posted a super detailed tutorial for it. I can't wait to try this one!!!

Twirly Skirts

Luckily my craft night sparked some interest and one of the participants came over twice this week to make our little ones two matching skirts...
We didn't use a tutorial for these.
Just cut two rectangles of fabric, one a little wider than the other and both twice as long as the length of the elastic you use.
Sew a hem at the bottom edge of both pieces.
Sew the casing for the elastic at the top.
String elastic through.
Sew remaining raw edges, right sides together and...

I think I may have to try to sell these at the craft show first and if they don't sell, I'll use them for Bex or gifts!
